This and that from the library
May 28, 2008 Still getting used to the blog, graduation tonight at Shoshone High School, my last as Board of Eduction Chair. I will miss giving out the diplomas but most of the other stress will be not be missed at all. Just listed 6 new books on BookCrossing.com. If you haven't tried this catch and release book club yet come to the Library and see what it is all about. Shirley sent us a note to try the "inner Librarian" site, what fun! I printed the glasses for all the staff and then started a shelf on Shelfari.com. We need more time to play online. Also have you tried del.icio.us? This is my favorites away from home. Off to write my final speach for SHS Graduation.
February 22, 2008: Just heard from an author, Jacq LaMarche, but because of a meeting with the mayor I didn't get to talk about the information he needed. Jacq, if you read this please contact us at the button above. We will send you all the information about our town and county that you can use. I just noticed that your book doesn't have a websight or e-mail listed or we would send the first installment now. So as far a blog goes, here is my question, "is there a librarian out there who doesn't want to help an author?" Where would libraries be if authors did't write new books, what would we put on our shelves, 75 copies of the classics? Maybe 30 copies of the dictionary. The majority of the librarians and library workers that I know are READERS. Not giving us new material would be like asking a foodie to live the rest of their life on only one kind of soup. I am going to the NCCE in Seattle next week. Perhaps I will learn new blog tricks or put some of this into podcasts.

August 29, 2007: Still getting used to this whole blog as a rant idea but this has been on my mind for a few days. The Museum of Idaho in Idaho Falls has been host to a most incredible display to break any bibliophile's heart since February. I was in Idaho Falls for a concert and saw the banner almost by accident. The hours I spent with the books and manuscripts that are a part of Ink and Blood left me almost spellbound. So my question is this; why didn't word of this wonderful display "pop up" each time I opened by computer? Why did I not see ads in the Times News, or hear about it on libidaho or PBS? How often do the Dead Sea Scrolls come to our state that we can afford to wait til next time? Ok more than one question, and I don't really expect an answer but ...

October 16, 2007: This is another must share, I just returned from a visit to New York City, it has been nearly 45 years since my last visit, but what had changed the most was me.
